Favorite Wine: Petite Verdot

From an easy access along I-81, you’ll find a vineyard setting set against Virginia’s Skyline Drive. In spite of the seasonal grape harvest push, two host graciously greeted us to share their wide array of superbly vivificated wines. Now that renowned Virginia vintner, Michael Shaps, has taken over operations, this winery clicks on all points (wines, operations & hospitality). Not only do you have many varietal selections, but also several of the wines could be offered in a short tower sequence tastings. How often do you get to try a Lemberger (Blaufrankisch) in the southeast? We left with Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (which obviously should be Virginia’s state wine IMHO).

Favorite Wine: shenandoah blanc

Beautiful views and a lovely breeze out on the veranda. Staff was warm and friendly. Their Shenandoah Blanc is a great white table wine.
