Favorite Wine: Chambourcn

Very, very nice setting on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Incredible tasting room facility. Just gorgeous. Their were several blends that included one of our favorite grapes: Chambourcin. Several nice dry reds. We liked the Archival Blend and we found the semi-dry “Our Black Dog” blend quite a different, yet interesting find. Our favorite by far, though, was the Chambourcn. Definitely one of the best Chambourcin's we have ever had the pleasure to experience.

This is a very nice winery to visit - wonderful ambiance as well as a very nice restaurant. The selection is very large, perhaps a detriment to full developing a "signature wine", but their Chambourcin is very nice, peppery, as well as their Cab Franc and Petit Verdot.

The Blue Ridge Parkway, a beautiful woman (wife of 38 years) to travel with in a perfect mountain setting, and the addition of a legitimate winery along the route. Chateau Morrisette Winery not only provides a nice break along the way with their winery, but also provides a top rate restaurant. An amazing spread of wines to choose from and some which are very tasty. I don't know if it is from the soil composition or temperatures encountered at the vineyard's elevation, which is over 3000', along with the vintner's practices, but all wines form CMW have a distinct different taste from other nearby wineries in NC and VA. The best way to describe for purchase considerations is that wines from Chateau Morrisette are "fun". Add to this, they have wines providing funds to the maintenance of the incredible Blue Ridge Parkway. Not our favorite, but we always pick up a case of Our Dog Blue (semi-sweet Riesling-Traminette blend) for appreciative friends.

Favorite Wine: Our Dog Blue

Absolutely lovely place with good wines and a good variety. We celebrated our anniversary there in December and my wife's June birthday; we received complimentary chocolate ganache cheesecake for the occasions and it was heavenly. The meals were exquisitly excellent and we repeatedly visit.

Favorite Wine: Blue Dog

I actually discovered this winery while riding the parkway on a motorcycle tour with friends. Located off the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway in the Meadows of Dan this replicated French Chateau is absolutley breath taking when you first arrive. The wines are absolutley wonderful. Try the "Blue Dog" Don't forget to stay for lunch.

Jan 09 - Wonderful experience! Very generous tasting - we tasted 10-12 wines. Lunch at the restaurant was absolutely delicious! We plan to return often!
