Favorite Wine: chardonnay

Visited this winery on a busy December weekend. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable. I was impressed how accomidating everyone was. Their dry reds had a wonderful finish and I was plesantly suprised how much I enjoyed them. The chardonnay is a must try. I highly recommed stopping in and trying the wines here!

On a busy New Year's weekend a few years ago, perhaps they added extra staff in preparation for the added holiday business... the young girls behind the bar not only looked thouroughly bored to be there, but bothered to assist the patrons. When asked a question about the wine, they would answer "I don't know." and walk away. Aside from the apathetic servers, the wines were not bad, but not stellar either. I sure hope things have changed for the better since then... it has been a while. But enough to keep me from coming back as well.

Recently visited and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. All wines were tasty, but their dry reds were top notch. Would highly recommend visiting. Great views as well.

Favorite Wine: Lemberger

Wonderful, large variety of wines. Six Dwarfs mint unusual and remarkable. Lemberger won top awards this year and is excellent. Savignon blanc very good. Fruit wines great. Something for everyone. Friendly staff. Lovely setting. Many special events.

Favorite Wine: Viognier ~ Dry

My girl friend Jill and I stopped at Shade Mountain on the way back to Philadelphia from Pittsburgh. We had a very pleasant visit at the winery. The staff was friendly, helpful and open to questions about the history of the vineyard. The vineyard is located on a hill surrounded by many acres of vines under cultivation. This presented a very beautiful view that we enjoyed from the vineyard’s deck. We tasted most of the wines they had to offer. Their whites had a very nice bouquet and taste; we thought that their reds were not as good. If you are any where near Middleburg, PA it would be worth your time to stop at Shade Mountain for a visit!
