A good visit to this winery, although kind of stuffy. When we entered we were greeted by a young woman who explained the prices for their tasting "series", and she seemed kind of put out that we didn't want the higher priced tastings with cheese pairing or 3 extra tastes. That was o.k., then we went to the tasting counter, and our server who was very friendly and well spoken, was so scripted that another couple commented that he sounded like an advertisement. When I had questions (like how long the cab had dwelled on the skins due to it's lack of tannins) he referred back to his scripted spiel, then admitted he didn't know after another question. O.K. that was just a minor. As for the winery itself, the building and grounds were beautiful. The wines were O.K. with the Avail being the standout, but not to our liking enough to purchase. It's the only winery on Skaneateles, so if your in the area stop by and judge for yourself.

I took my family here for a nice outing to enjoy the scenery overlooking Skaneatles lake.. We purchased a platter of fruit and cheese with a bottle of wine. We were enjoying ourselves along with 6 other groups of people and numerous employees came up to every table at 4:04 stating we close at four and they would cork the bottle but we had to leave. They were treating us like we did not matter because a "special" party was coming in. We asked to speak to a manager who then told us that she was the owner and she didn't care about anything we had to say and that we had to see her perspective. Because local people were having a private party at 5 we couldn't finish our last bit of wine at 4:15. We told her how upsetting it was to be treated in such a way and she replied with "you're just relaxed that's why your saying something". She stormed off when we told her we were very disappointed in her demeanor and her way of handling things. We will NEVER go there again.

Favorite Wine: Reisling

This winery is stunning. The tasting room is gorgeous and they have a beautiful spot that over-looks Skaneateles lake. They did not have the best wine for our taste but, the woman doing the tasting was knowledgeable and very pleasant. The fireplace room is awesome. Much like a ski lodge. I think we will be going back tomorrow.
