Gruet Winery

While in town for the balloon fiesta, we decided to stop in and visit this winery. I have seen the champagnes nationally, and did enjoy the ones we tried (not a huge fan of sparklers, but these were good). They do have 4 still wines - the cab sauv. wasgood, the chardonnay was excellent, pinot noir was ok, and the red blend was good. We didn't have the same experience as other posters - we thought the staff was friendly and the tasting room had a pleasant atmosphere. I wouldn't pass them up if your in the area.

Don't really like the wines and it's hard to feel the ambiance when right off the highway.

Favorite Wine: Blanc de Blanc

It was a treat to visit this winery during my visit to NM. The wines were nice and I purchased 6 bottles while there. I was not impressed with the boom box that played music for the small tasting room. The songs were not appropriate for the atmosphere. The staff did not seem interested in the customers which was a disappointment. I did enjoy the wine though - I'd go back and recommend it with slight reservations.
