Favorite Wine: Chambourcin
After visiting Glacial Till's Ashland tasting room several times, we finally were able to visit their vineyard for their 6th Annual Harvest Festival. The production facility prominently pictured on their label sits atop a hill southeast of Lincoln about halfway between the towns of Palmyra and Bennet. The vineyards cover a north facing slope which overlook a bout as pretty of a vista as you're going to find in Eastern Nebraska. The day had lots of events ranging from human foosball to rock toss to several raffles to wine tastings to local breweries to a great live band named Red Delicious. It was a great day. Oh and 'Starvin' Marvin' provided the best BBQ ribs I have eve had. It was a great day and a great crowd.

Favorite Wine: 2011 Chambourcin
A fantastic little winery with a commanding view of the vineyard at the top of the tasting room. The very young winemaker is very capable at making supple wines there on site, including a Port. He's interested in branching out to include Cabernet Franc and potentially Norton, which is being done in a few places in Nebraska. The main tasting room is located in a nearby town, but this one opened up for us on a snowy winter's weekday in March, which was a real treat. The Chambourcin will age for a few years, but it's also a drink now wine.

My fellow Goobers and I set out on a sunny Sunday, intent on spending an afternoon savoring wine, laughter, and conversation with good friends. After a quick lunch we went in search of Glacial Till in Palmyra. I’ll spare you the agonizing details (four thirsty women in a car driving in circles in search of an elusive winery….you do the math!). After more than an hour (yes…an HOUR!) we finally found the entrance to Glacial Till…drove up to the building, drove around the building, drove back to the road with a “what the heck???†mentality. There was no entrance to a winery. There were no cars. The only sign of life other than some lovely grape vines was a man on a tractor (who didn’t seem to notice us). I’d love to tell you how good the wine is at Glacial Till (because I have it on good authority that it IS quite good) I can’t say because we had to regroup and go in search of a different winery.
