Favorite Wine: Michael's Signature Red

Very nice grounds and refurbished home. We could see ourselves relaxing here at sunset. The wines were perhaps average, maybe a tad better than that. The Cynthiana wasn't bad at all, just not great. We liked Michael's Signature Red, a 70/30 Blend of Cynthiana (Norton) and Chambourcin, a little better. The Sunset Red, a semi-dry blend of Norton, Chambourcin and Noiret was a nice departure from the beaten path. We haven't encountered the Noiret before this trip but it has made a very nice first impression with us.

The most fun of the Augusta wineries. Red wines are superior. Can't say the same for the dry whites. You can still bring in your own food and snacks!

Very committed barista at the tasting bar. The Norton is strong, and Michael's Red (Norton, Chambourcin +1 blend) is a little too sweet. It seemed to be a sweet little place in the woods.

Norton Wine Review: "Becky" got her stars correct according to my wife. A much publicized location, conveniently located by a short drive out of St. Charles (St. Louis), that is more hype than winery. With only the first tasting pour at SCW we wanted to get the heck out of Defiance since it was obvious what trap we had driven into. If one wants to dash out of town after work for an evening "quickie" drink before the sun goes down, this is your place, but if you wish to sit down and enjoy the setting with a five star wine, drive another 3.6 miles to Chandler Hill's Winery or three more minutes from SCW for a wonderful setting with a fine Norton at Montelle's Vineyard.
