Favorite Wine: Norton
Jerry, the owner’s son, went out of his way to accommodate our fifth visit. Each time the experience just tops the last. Picked up a case of their 2014 Old Vine (25 years old vines) Norton which will continue to age well in bottle. Uniquely, this wine was aged for 24 months in both Missouri Chinkapin and White oak barrels making for a smooth tasting Norton example. The offerings of Vidal, Vignoles, Seyval, Traminette, an impressive dry St. Vincent Rose, Chambourcin, Norton and other blends make this a Missouri standard for wineries. This winery stands with our top three Missouri Norton wineries.

Favorite Wine: Le Trompier Noir and Norton
Went back to Robller after our first visit several years ago. Apparently my tastes have matured or my horizons have expanded. I really liked the wines this time. Very much so. I liked every one of their dry reds. Hard to choose but my favorite was either the Le Trompier Noir or their elegant, spicy Norton. As so many others have said here, the family is a real privelege to meet and be in their presence.

Favorite Wine: Vignoles
Definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the extra drive. The staff was nice, and the place definitely had the feel of a family run operation. A nice old boxer named Duke kept us company while we enjoyed a bottle on the patio. Beautiful view.

I've been encouraged for years to visit this winery located outside of New Haven, and I'm glad I went on my birthday. Robller is an incredible place, with a knowledgeable and friendly staff, terrific wine, great vibe. Jerry, the winemaker's son, not only loves wine, but drinks wine, appreciates wine, collects wine, and is passionate about wine. It shows. His enthusiasm for all of his offerings even resulted in my tasting whites (which I seldom do, barring a Traminette). He's very proud of the great wine they make, and rightfully so. They're sold out of Norton, but the taste he offered of the 2010 vintage was incredibly supple, rich, and elegant. Great wines for aging, with the potential to put away for 10-20 years, but also good for drinking now.

Nice Family owners. The son-in-law doing the tastings and narrations was very entertaining. However, I just didn't really care for the wines. I think the winemaker is going for a certain style that apparently isn't what I am looking for. All of the wines seemed to have an undertone of a pungent earthy flavor and smell. For me, at least, this trait distracted from the wines We purchased a sweet red called Kasselfest that my wife liked. But this wine, too, had a hint of the earthy, (moldy?) undertone.

Favorite Wine: Villa Rouge for its versatility, Traminette for sipping
I was impressed with the outgoing staff and the wide variety of reasonably priced wines. Then I attended their BBQ and Blues in June, and Reggae Sunsplash Festival last August and had a blast. Someone wrote a great article about them at: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/258238/robller_vineyard_winery_in_new_haven.html
