Favorite Wine: Peachy
This was our last stop of the day in July 2011. We loved the ambiance of this winery, with great music and a beautiful deck overlooking the area. The sandwiches we had were very good as well. The tasting room was spacious and we purchased many wines with their special at the time. The also had made a delicious Sangria with their Peachy wine that they had recipes for. The downside to this winery was the check out process. They only had 1 central check out where you purchased everything from wine to lunch and it became confusing if you were purchasing many things at once.

Favorite Wine: Chambourcin
Most beautiful view of all the wineries we visited in Augusta area. Great place to relax or take in the entertainment. We probably caught a flat bottle of the Cynthiana as it was good but not great. It certainly didn’t stand out from other Nortons in the area. We did like the Chambourcin as a medium bodied table wine. We ordered a bottle with a chicken/red pepper/asparagus pizza here and it was easy to finish. Looking for something unique here I would point to the River Country Red (semi-dry to semi-sweet) and the Stone House Red which was sweeter yet. They just seemed a little different from some of the other reds in this category. I should have bought a bottle of their Cynthiana to try at home to see if it was any better. But I guess in the back of my mind, I knew that I liked the Norton at Augusta Winery (same owner between the two) at a lower price so I didn’t press the issue at the time. The wines were okay or good. The scenery and feel of the deck would bring me back. Beautiful setting and view.

Favorite Wine: Vignoles
Last place we visited on the day. We might have been burnt out, but the wines were too sweet and the patronage a little rough. Customer service seemed to want to negative sell other places. Nice view though and the food looked good. Lots and lots of rules about no buses, no limos, no large groups, no outside food. Still, it was very busy and very cheap. My husband liked it more than me.

Free tastings and good wine. You can't bring in your own food, which is getting to be the trend for wineries. A place where you can buy wine, but can't bring in your own food should be called a restaurant.

Favorite Wine: 06 Cynthiana
The 06 cynthiana is outstanding, one of the best in the state, but they're only selling the 09, which isn't ready to drink yet. Age it for four years and it should be perfect.

Norton Wine Review: How many ways can one describe a great winery, - location, facilities, wines, hosts, food, wines (oh, I've already stated that) . . . . . . . What a fun place with nice wines at fair prices and generous case discounts with shipping available. Many award winning wine examples in this one location; as, Montelle's Chambourcin, Chardonel, Seyval Blanc, Vignoles, plus their Cynthiana (Norton) and Cynthiana port. Montelle's "Cynthiana" has remained one of our favorite Nortons for several years.
