Favorite Wine: Vignoles
Terrible winery experience at Blumenhof Winery today. Very poor customer service from both the winery staff as well as the entertainment. Too many other wonderful wineries in our area to ever return to Blumenhof.

First winery stop of the day thus we were the only ones there. Kind, informative staff. We always purchase a souvenir glass, but they were out. Fortunately after asking they allowed us to purchase a tasting glass. Only a few semi-sweet wines for tasting that day.

Favorite Wine: Femme Osage
We enjoyed the grounds immediately upon driving in. Lots of shade and lots of flowers in bloom. The overall of quality of their wines was quite good although it was hard to pick out a superb standout wine from their offerings. Having said that, the Original Cyn, their Norton, was rather average to me. We might have had an oxygenated bottle perhaps. They were sold out of their Chambourcin. The whites were all quite good including their dries: Seyval and Vidal Blanc. We sampled a new one to us: their Rayon D’Or. It was a quite pleasant semi-sweet (they listed it semi-dry). It was crisp and refreshing. They had a good and unique Traminette in the Femme Osage. I really like the Vignoles variety and I thought the Blumenhof Vignoles was as good of a semi-sweet version as I have ever tasted. I thought their semi-sweet Norton / Chambourcin blend, Devil’s Den Red, was quite good as well. Again the wines were all quite good. Only thing that held me back just a little is that they all were a bit to the sweeter end of the spectrum for my preference. Many, many people though would love the wines here just for that same reason though.

Norton Wine Review: Blumenhof Winery produces an award winning Norton wine they have cleverly named "Original CYN". Unfortunately they ship directly only to MO & CA, but I have found that the Missouri Mercantile wine distributor will secure this wine for shipment. Order quickly because they always sell out by early fall. This is a vineyard working hand-in-hand with nature, providing a vineyard tree edge which accepts a 10% loss of grapes to its finely fed feathered friends. After trying 66 different Norton wines from eleven states, this is one of our two favorite Norton wines. I can't possibly be more positive than this for their 2006 Norton. 2007 Original Cyn still boxed and waiting its turn.

Very nice winery atmosphere, reminiscent of Willamette Valley's smaller wineries. Maybe the Cynthiana at the tasting bar was past its prime? It was flat, with no real hint of oak. I trust the Norton Wine Travelers in their estimation of the Cynthiana, assumed that the bottle was dead at the tasting bar, so picked up a 2008 Original Cyn. I'll put it away for a while...

This is a great winery. Their entertainment is a step above the rest. The patio is well shaded with nice tables.

The staff were the nicest of the 13 wineries we visited. They even drew us a map of where we should go for dinner. Loved the mulled wine. Everyone should visit this winery!

The Lafemme Osage Traminette '06 is a little dry, but awesome!
